Macao, Special Administrative Region of the People’s
Republic of China (July 24, 2009) – The former Japanese pop singer and artist turned into
an one-of-a-kind and world famous illusionist – Princess Tenko, will make her debut
performance at Sands Macao from Thursday through Sunday, September 17–
September 20, at 8:30pm daily. The well-known Shanghai Acrobatic Troupe will play a
supporting act at the show. Tickets will be on sale starting from Tuesday, July 28 at 10 a.m.
Princess Tenko is one of apprentices of Hikita
Tenko, a famous escape artist and illusionist in Japan. After Hikita Tenko had passed
away, Princess Tenko was chosen among his apprentices as the heir to his name. Today,
Tenko Hikita (II) is widely recognized by her stage name, Princess Tenko. She
performs about 300 shows worldwide every year.
In 1990, Princess Tenko was awarded Magician of the
Year from the Academy of Magic Arts in the United States. Other renowned
recipients of the award include David Copperfield and Doug Henning. Princess
Tenko is the first female magician to receive this award. In 1995, Princess
Tenko became the heroine model in the U.S. cartoon, Tenko and the
Guardian of the Magic.
