(Macao, September 4,
2008) With
regards to the recent reports on suspected food poisoning at a restaurant at
Sands Macao Hotel, we would like to provide the following information:
Upon receipt of the report from the
Macao Department of Health, we have cooperated fully with the Department in the
investigation. The Department has inspected the restaurant on September 2, 2008
and issued a report confirming that it is in good hygienic conditions while the
Department continues with the investigation.
Although the investigation is still taking
place, restaurant management has taken extra precautionary measures. Restaurant
management has stopped serving fresh oysters, suspected to be linked to the incident,
until further notice.
Food hygiene is the top priority of
our restaurant management. We take all necessary measures in maintaining the
highest hygienic standard. In addition, we send food samples to an independent
laboratory in Hong Kong for food safety tests
twice a month. All recent test results showed that the food was safe for
consumption.
