(Macao, June 12, 2013) - Sands China Ltd. took home the championship in Wednesday's Macau International Invitational Standard Dragon Boat Races -- Open Category - 500m - "C" Final at Nam Van Lake, after pitting its team's powerful rowing, coordinated teamwork and unified spirit against four other teams from Macao and abroad.
Sands China's three men's teams competed in the preliminary and semi-finals of the Macau Small Dragon Boat Race - Open Category - 250m, and the Macau Standard Dragon Boat Race - Open Category - 500m, held on June 8 and 9, and successfully won the second Runner-up Award in the Minor Final of the 250-metre race and the first Runner-up Award in the Minor Final of the 500-metre race. The Standard Dragon Boat team made it to the finals along with other teams from Macao's public departments, private organisations and sports associations. Pushing team spirit and morale to new heights in the sports challenge, the Sands China rowers paddled as fast as they could in spite of the heat. In the Macau International Invitational Standard Dragon Boat Races - Open Category event, the Sands China team also competed with other strong paddlers, finally winning the championship in the "C" Final contest.
Sands China congratulated its team members' success, and expressed great appreciation for their dedication and effort in the event. The team members were not only thrilled by their outstanding performance and achievement, but also realised the importance and power of teamwork throughout the three-day contest. At the 2012 Macau International Dragon Boat Races, Sands China took fifth place for Small Dragon Boat in the 250-metre Open Category, fifth place for Standard Boat in the 500-metre Open Category, and was crowned champion in the Minor Final of International Invitational Standard Dragon Boat Races in the 500-metre Open Category.
