Exciting Christmas and New Year Menus Await at Sands Macao

(Macao, December 11, 2012) – Sands® Macao, located in the heart of the bustling Macao peninsula, will be the perfect place to share the joyful holiday season with families, friends and loved ones this winter, as the hotel’s award-winning Copa Steakhouse and signature 888 Buffet are set to offer an irresistible selection of Christmas and New Year dining promotions, offering pleasant surprises that will make these special moments of the year even more memorable. In addition, the talented team of pastry chefs at Sands Macao has created an over 10-metre high ginger bread Christmas-themed façade in the shape of the Ruins of St. Paul’s, one of Macao’s signature world heritage sites. The replica, which was created using over 14,000 eggs, 4,000 litres of water, 600 kg of icing sugar, 250 kg of cake flour and 130 kg of glucose, amongst other ingredients, is now being displayed at the hotel’s casino. It took the eight pastry chefs four months to confirm the design and prepare the ingredients, and more than 200 hours to tile the ginger bread onto the backdrop and to put up the Christmas decorations.

Acclaimed by Asia Tatler Dining 2012 as one of Hong Kong and Macao’s Best Restaurants, Copa Steakhouse offers a mouth-watering selection of special dishes to satisfy steak and seafood lovers during the Christmas period between December 24 and 26, and the New Year period between December 31, 2012 and January 1, 2013, starting from MOP 589* per person (+MOP 200 with wine pairing).The Christmas Eve, Christmas and Boxing Day Set Menus each feature two starters (such as crispy ahi roll with soft shell crab with brandade dip and mushroom cappuccino with foie gras wonton); three main courses to choose from (traditional roasted U.S. young Turkey with stuffing and wild cranberry sauce, pan-fried Cajun salmon with confit garlic or roasted Canadian prime rib of beef with reduction jus); as well as a warm dessert, freshly brewed coffee or tea, and Christmas cookies and minced pies to finish the seasonal experience with a festive touch.

The New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Dinner Menus feature different sets of starters, main courses and desserts, including spiced suckling pig with foie gras, broiled selection of seafood with garlic blanc, seared Wagyu beef and lobster medallion with mustard dip, and warm pear strudel with chilli ice cream.

888 Gourmet Place
Based on the ever-popular casual dining style concept, 888 Gourmet Place offers the sumptuous 888 Buffet, set to take senses on a culinary tour, blending flavours from the East and the West, and featuring Chinese and South East Asian cuisines, including Japanese and Thai. The limited-time Festival Buffet Menus available between December 21 and 26, and between December 31, 2012 and January 1, 2013 are respectively MOP 188* (adult) and MOP 108* (3 to 12 years old) for lunch, and MOP 368* (adult) and MOP 188* (3 to 12 years old) for dinner.
