Macao, Special Administrative
Region of the People’s Republic of China
(May 18th, 2007) – Sands Macao, the
first Las Vegas-style casino and entertainment complex in Macao, celebrated its third anniversary
today with special birthday celebrations that included a taxi-drivers’ tea
party.
Singing SandsMacao team members,
dressed as Venetian gondoliers,
joined tea-servers dressed in Chinese traditional costumes, to serve early
‘afternoon tea’ and distribute anniversary gift packs to taxi drivers laden
with newly arriving customers as they pulled in at Sands Macao.
“The ongoing success of
Sands Macao is attributable in no small part to the hard-work and consistent
dedication of not only our own Sands’ team members, but many other service
providers throughout the entire Macao community as well,” said Mr. Mark Brown,
President of Sands Macao and The Venetian Macau Resort Hotel. “Since Sands first
opened in May 2004 we have welcomed more than 28,000,000 visitors through our
doors. Many people are in the front-line in ensuring all our visitors feel
welcome and enjoy their stay here.”
Mr. Mark Brownjoined Dr. Jorge Valente,
Managing Director of Venetian Macau Limited, and other senior executives of
Sands Macao, to unveil a 3rd-anniversary ice sculpture made
for the occasion by production-room chef Patrick Li and senior sous chef, Mr. Henry Leng. They also cut a special Sands’
anniversary birthday cake which recognized 21 members of the Sands’ total
workforce of 9,400 team members who are celebrating their own birthdays today.
Thanking all the team members of Sands Macao, Mr. Brown said: “The
third year of Sands Macao is another major milestone in our history-making and
growing presence here in Macao.
Our workforce at Sands has grown by over 1,440 members since our last
anniversary and to date, well over 3,500 team members have gained promotions. The
celebration of our third anniversary is time to reflect on the many
achievements of our talented team and together we all anticipate yet more
excitement and continued growth in the year ahead.”
