Macao Hotel are pleased to announce that on Friday April 16th 2010, Hong
Kong film legend Michael Wong (王敏德) will bring his 17 piece big band, dancers, and surprise
guests to play at the Sands Macao Theater for the first time ever in Macao.
Chivas
Regal has generously offered its assistance to make this event possible. Michael began his relationship with Chivas in
1993 when he starred in their record breaking three minute Chivas Regal 12 commercial
that ran in the entire East Asian market.
Now, 17 years later Chivas has chosen Michael Wong’s Macau
show to represent their newly relaunched Chivas Regal 25 - the synergy of this
collaboration is clearly represented in the title of both the new show and the
product launch – “A Legend Reborn”.
Despite
being known for his work in over 70 Chinese language films spanning over 20
years, Michael also has extensive experience in the music world. Originally a singer and dancer before moving
to Hong Kong to start his film career, Michael released a hit album in Thailand
the 1990’s and returned to his music roots in 2007 with the launch of the 17
piece Michael Wong Big Band, specializing in classic tunes reminiscent of Las
Vegas in the 1950s and 1960s with Sinatra and Dean Martin; as well as R&B with
Ray Charles and James Brown.
Making
the night even more special, the show will be held on Michael’s birthday. All show attendees are invited to celebrate with
Michael on his birthday at an exclusive afterparty held at The View on the 24thfloor of
Sands Macao Hotel.
“Michael Wong Big Band A
Legend Reborn Live in Macao 2010” will be
held at the 651-seat Sands Macao Theatre starting at 8:00pm on Friday April 16th
with an approximate 75 minute runtime.
Doors open at 7:00pm. The afterparty
will start at 10pm and run until 4am.

ABOUT MICHAEL WONG
Michael Wong (Wong Man-Tak, 王敏德) is one of Hong Kong's most recognized
entertainers. His film career features over 70 motion pictures. Michael was the first non Cantonese-speaking
actor to gain success in the Hong Kong film
industry. His debuts took place in the mid-80s in the kung fu productions
Invincible Obsessed Fighters (1983) and In the Line of Duty (1985). Michael's
most notable film is the 1998 film Beast Cops, which won the Best Film prize at
the Hong Kong Film Awards. He performed his latest leading role in 2009
blockbuster Overheard.
Presently, Michael devotes much of his
time to various charities. He was named "Peace Ambassador" for the
Peace International Foundation. He is a licensed commercial pilot for
helicopters and leads the weekly Operation Flying Eagle, Hong
Kong's first regular flying program for young people. Michael
initiated this program in 2000 with the HK Cadet Corps.
Michael also works with many of the
world’s top fashion and watch brands, including Hugo Boss and Omega, and has
done over 20 major celebrity endorsement campaigns. He regularly sings with the
Michael Wong Big Band and continues to entertain audiences around the world
with his unique charismatic style and warm heart.
Born in Albany,
New York, on April 16, 1965, Michael is the
son of a Chinese Father from Shandong, China, and a
Mother of Dutch and French descendants. He was raised among five other
brothers, some of whom also have embraced the entertainment industry. He’s
married to HK supermodel Janet Ma Sze Wai and is the father of a son and two daughters.
